ABOUT US

Our Story

This adventure started on a Sunday drive in July 2015 up the Awhitu Peninsula - a remote part of Auckland that we hadn't seen before. Not really knowing what to expect - we were pleasantly surprised with the beauty of the wild west coast, sheltered sandy inner harbour beaches, great expanses of farmland and most importantly, the sense that it was still a relatively untouched and undiscovered part of greater Auckland.

With a great deal of insisting (we won't call it nagging), I finally got my good husband to agree to view this 166 acre farm that we saw for sale.

Well there isn't much more to say... we loved it and bought it.

A wee bit of history.....

It all started in 2007 after buying 3 acres in Silverdale (a paddock with a pond) - we loved having animals and that sense of space around us. Those animals, alpacas and sheep, soon became much loved and spoilt pets.
What to do with the rest of that space? Well as my good husband is meticulous and likes to do it all himself, I soon became the "trusty assistant" and together we created what is shown in the picture gallery (on right).

Five years on, with all the projects completed and the house empty of children, it was time to move on to new adventures - and while they were completely different, we never lost sight of the goal of having a 100 acre farm.

Now back to our story......

And here begins a very steep learning curve into the care of a lot more farmland, way more livestock and the general 24 hours a day, 7 days a week demands of an oversized lifestyle block !

We have created a blog to share with you the experiences we are having along the way (the good, the bad and the ugly).

We hope you enjoy our adventures !
