Red Guava Jelly may be in short supply this year as our trees seem to have attracted every wood pigeon from far and wide, and while I don't mind sharing - they are stripping the trees, breaking branches and dive bombing anyone that gets close!
Red guava jelly is superb on a fresh bread sandwhich (not long out of the breadmaker) with cheese. It is also a great accompaniment to meat, particularly beef and lamb.

It can be hard to find this fruit - I am fortunate to have a friend of my mother-in-law who says she is past standing stirring jam now and kindly donates her quince in return for some finished product.
What is deemed as an old fashioned fruit makes a truly wonderful jam, jelly or paste. This jam is our second son's favourite jam and he has a habit of working his way through our stock very quickly so you'll need to get in quick to stay ahead of him!

Blackboy Peach Jam - SOLD OUT TO PEACH SEASON

Blackboy peaches are just becoming available to buy in the shops. They don't have a particularly inviting exterior, but oh when you cut into them the colour is fantastic. They aren't my favourite peach to eat straight off the tree but when stewed (for cereal or dessert) or jammed, they are simply unbeatable. I have one tree that yielded just over 2kg in fruit this year - and was promptly made into jam. Needless to say I have planted another two trees in the orchard (but I think I need more...). You can't beat it for colour and flavour.

For me, its falls into the category of the most unfriendly of fruits to do anything with - unfortunately its also the one that tastes the best when turned into jam, jelly, paste or chutney !
